In November 2021 Gurleen and Dr. Patricia Neufeld published an article on a racialized student and white supervisor reflected on their journey in racism research. COGNICA magazine is designed to keep therapists and educators up to date on current trends.

In 2018, Gurleen began a journey of collecting stories from South Asian Canadians. What began as a research question to understand why South Asian Canadian are not accessing mental health services to the degree of their white counterparts, unfolded into a journey of revealing an epidemic. Fourteen participants were interviewed, however family, friends, strangers, and colleagues all contributed to the understanding that racism is alive and well in Canada. This study introduces a history of South Asians to Canada, includes a brief overview of anti-racist theories, current literature on the topic, and ends with the stories and contributions from the participants. The implications for clinical practitioners and organizations are also included.
